For National Apprenticeship Week 2024, we put our newest engineering apprentices in the spotlight to give you an insight into their experience here at Prism Power.
Prism Power Group has long been a supporter of educating young aspiring individuals in the field of engineering. Each year, we commit to taking on a new cohort of apprentices to develop a thriving young workforce that diversifies our company and influences the development and growth of engineering for the future.
During National Apprenticeship Week 5-11 February 2024, we are celebrating all our apprentices both present and those who have gone on to qualify as competent engineers. We have put our newest engineering apprentices in the spotlight to give you an insight into their experience here at Prism Power.
In the spotlight: Lombala – Engineering Apprentice at Prism Power
Why did you choose to begin an apprenticeship with Prism Power Group?
Prism Power offers the opportunity to learn a new trade in a warm and welcoming environment.
What do you enjoy most about your apprenticeship so far?
Prism Power offers the opportunity to learn something new and different all the time.
What are you looking forward to learning during the rest of your apprenticeship?
I’m most looking forward to learning switchgear assembly and maintenance.
What has your work covered so far?
So far, work has included building bespoke switchboards and distribution boards, wiring and electrical testing.
What skills have you developed since starting your apprenticeship?
Since joining Prism Power, I have developed skills in electrical and mechanical engineering and working as a team.
What do you enjoy most about working at Prism Power?
Prism Power is a friendly place to work where staff are easily approachable. They are a fountain of knowledge.
In the spotlight: Oliver – Engineering Apprentice at Prism Power
Why did you choose to begin an apprenticeship with Prism Power Group?
I joined Prism Power to gain a large amount of knowledge in the manufacture, installation, and maintenance of industrial power systems.
What do you enjoy most about your apprenticeship so far?
I enjoy fitting and wiring, but I’m also looking forward to getting the opportunity to work on site in the future.
What are you looking forward to learning during the rest of your apprenticeship?
I’m really looking forward to learning about site installation.
What has your work covered so far?
My work so far has included wiring, fitting, general cleaning and sundries, as well as training in using lots of different tools.
What skills have you developed since starting your apprenticeship?
I have got better at cable dressing and have also gained some experience in continuity testing.
What do you enjoy most about working at Prism Power?
I really enjoy working in a learning environment where everyone is friendly and helpful.
